For those who do not know the story of Darryl Hunt, it goes like this: tried and convicted of murder while continuously maintaining his innocence; was cleared in 1994 through DNA testing but remained locked up for an additional 10 years. The Trials of Darryl Hunt is a documentary about the events that transpired in Hunt’s life, beginning with the accusation of

murder in 1984. The film garnered the Official Selection-Documenary Competition at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. For all of the local folks, you’ll be able to check out the film in Durham at the Full Frame Documentary Festival April 6-9, 2006

The sin of this is that it is not an uncommon case - the rule, rather than the exception. The color of the victim matters some - but the color of the other victim, the wrongly imprisoned, matters very much in the courts. Ditto economic status.
I looked it up a few years back. And the imprisonment rate in the US has now exceeded the population of some states.
If the film is shown in my city, I’ll see it. Thanks for posting this.
i wonder when the criminalization of poor people will stop in this country.
