House of Rainbow, part of the Universal Fellowhip of the Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), opened last month and is the first church in Nigeria to accommodate homosexuals. Other African Metropolitan Community Church congregations are located in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria in South Africa. Read more about House of Rainbow at Behind the Mask.

This is good, especially in Africa, to open more windows for people in the LGBTQ community who feel isolated to examine their faith in a safe space.

Good news - Lets hope that the worshippers will be safe in this environment - though I wonder what happens when they leave to return to the outside world of homophobic bigots?
@sokari
yes I thought about the worshippers being safe. with it being the only church in Nigeria to accomodate homosexuals, i’m sure there is a tremendous concern for safety. this thought saddens me, but i hope the worshippers are at least able to feel a sense of community within the church, even though afterwards they may have to face homophobic bigots.
Thanks for the addition of this information on your site. We pray daily for God’s protection and mercy over us above all things. To date we have received nearly 200 worshippers in the short time. The Church can be contacted on 01 89 222 99 or 0805 256 7170 God bless Rev Jide Macaulay
it is great to read people`s reaction to the great thing the Lord is doing in Lagos Nigeria. I am also happy to be part of History, i was one of the 32 gay people that gathered at the inaugural service of House of Rinbow in Lagos, yes the challenges are there but i believe strong that one with God is a majority, and we look forward to a more fulfilling experience in the presence of God in the New year, maybe what is best is to further let our brothers and sisters in Nigeria know about this through this medium thereby creating a strong Godly community
Really, it’s been a great time and a great relationship between God and I, since the establishment of this ministry in Nigeria. I was also among the foundation member and also a committed worker in the Vineyard of God Almighty. God has really be good and now i turly believe that He Accepts Me.
you see beloved fathers and my dear gay sisters,im not the pastpor in charge of the church but just a worker.house of rainbow is the endtime gospel ministry of our lord and saviour jesus,and house of rainbow is a vision to make the lives of our broithers out there a meaning to themselves.to make their lives a meaning to the church,and to make their lives a meaning to the society
Dear Brothers and Sisters at House of Rainbow, Lagos
I am writing from Australia to let you know that many people around the world applaud your ministry which proclaims the good news that “there is no hate in Love”.
This is the message of my website http://www.wound-wisdom.tk , which is meant to be philosophical rather than religious but accessable to the religious of all persuasions and colours, as well as agnostics and atheists.
