India’s African Communities

There’s a post on Mwandani’s blog that deals with Africans in India. Unfortunately I don’t understand Kiswahili well so I wasn’t able to read the post. But I clicked on the picture in the post which took me to the BBC News site where there are pictures of India’s African communities. You can also go here to listen to African Perspective to learn more about India’s African descendants.

Ok, so my posts are coming about a month apart; i just haven’t felt inspired to write or film anything lately. But i did read something from the NY Times that inspired this short post. My friend Ndesanjo Macha is doing wonderful things in the wiki world. One more step toward decolonizing cyberspace.

What A Disaster!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone close to me knows that I was extremely excited about Vloggercon 2006, and even more charged about what I could deliver in terms of my experience at the conference. Well I’m sad to say that excitement began to take a dive after my plane connection in Detroit on Friday. I felt a little sick, but I just shrugged it off as “air sickness.” Then, 10 minutes after landing in San Francisco I was hugging the toilet and puking something fierce. On Saturday, I felt worse and decided to rest so that I would have a chance of at least enjoying the activities on Sunday. But on Sunday I felt worse than Saturday. Now by this time I’m not even thinking about the conference, I’m just concerned with getting back to the east coast and in my own bed (I mean I would rather be sick at home than over 2,000 miles away while I’m a guest in someone’s home). So that was my Vloggercon trip. Today I feel much better (Mon. and Tues. was difficult). I still can’t believe I traveled that long way without attending one session–very disappointing. But there is a bright side; I met Mary Hodder, whom I lodged with. She was too kind, and kept reassuring me that she was ok with me being there even though I was so sick. We talked briefly between my bouts of sickness, and I’m looking forward to meeting her again under different circumstances. Perhaps if she attends Converge South!
mood: disappointed and tired
