Obama: Change We Can Believe In?

change we can believe inAdmittedly, I hate politics. I’ve always felt politicians were legal con artists. Smooth talkers who spit the right game to get what they want. I’m hoping Obama is different. I feel that Obama is different. And history says my gut feelings are usually correct.

Last week, I had the pleasure of being in the same room with this man (albeit a very large room and I was lucky to catch glimpses of him through the photogs legs who were on elevated risers in front of me). But I was there. I saw him. I heard him. And I can tell you, Obama has a presence that automatically uplifts you when he walks in the room. Charisma and humor oozes from this man. He was comfortable on stage, and it was evident to everyone in that room (I’m sure of it). Either he’s the real thing…or he’s a damn good actor. Again, my instinct tells me the former is true. When Obama speaks, it feels as if a common, (extra)ordinary man is speaking…not a politician. Continue reading ‘Obama: Change We Can Believe In?’

Barack Obama Up Close

Barack Obama in Greensboro

This was such an enjoyable week for me! I learned Monday evening that Barack Obama would make a stop in Greensboro, N.C. to hold a town-hall meeting. I was bummed to find out work would prevent me from attending. Then…

I was asked to live blog the event for the tv station. Whoopee!!!!!!!!!! Now the title of this post is a tad misleading because I was in the building, but not “up close.” In reality, I was more like waaaaaayyy back. I sat in the press section (a first for me) but I couldn’t see a thing! They had us behind the risers so all I could see was the backsides of cameramen. But a photojournalist with our station had an excellent spot and captured these amazing photos of Obama.

I have more to share on the Obama experience. Stay tuned for the next post…

Blogging Barack Obama

I am ecstatic right now. Yesterday I learned Barack Obama would be holding a town hall meeting here in Greensboro, NC. In fact, he’ll be here tomorrow! Tickets sold out in a few hours yesterday! And even if I were lucky enough to snag one, I have to work so…

But I’m not upset. No, not at all. Because I’ve been given the opportunity to live blog from the event! Yep, blogging Barack! This is so great. So tomorrow check me out in the blog section at myfoxwghp.com or on digitalherstory.com.

Baby Endorses Barack Obama

Obama Baby '08

Today, Nia announced that she would be endorsing Senator Barack Obama. She addressed a small crowd (her mother, 2 cousins, grandmother, uncle and aunt) at a press conference Friday evening.

The shirt was a birthday gift from one of my co-workers. “Obama Baby ‘08″ is printed on the front. She wouldn’t remain still long enough for me to get a shot with the entire phrase. This is her first and last time wearing it though. I accidentally shrunk it in the clothes dryer!

(Feel free to post this photo on your website. If you do, please reference me (Dara) as the photographer and link back to my site.)
