The other day I got a myspace friend request from some random guy. On Myspace and Facebook I do not approve friend requests unless I know the person OR we’ve had some type of contact/conversation prior to the friend request…this is not a popularity contest for me. I wasn’t sure if I had met the guy before, and since he was from NC, I figured it was possible that we had met and I just couldn’t remember. So i sent a message asking if I knew him or if we’d met before. This was his ignorant reply:

I looked at his profile and noticed he’s only 19-years-old. Is this how the younguns do it nowadays? I might knock my son upside the head if I found out this is how he was trying to court a lady!!! A bunch of foolishness!

The following comment was left on one of my posts.
I couldn’t understand some parts of this article Merry Christmas Despite a Very Cranky Baby at Jasiri, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
The commenter’s name is “Daniel.” I have to approve comments before they appear on a post, so this one didn’t show up on my site. You know what this reminds me of? Those calls you get on your landline phone from telemarketers. “Hi, can I speak to Dara?” or “Hi Dara, how are you?” When they know they’ve never met me in their life. And I always know it’s a telemarketer because they always mispronounce my name, especially my last name.
I knew this comment was spam because it didn’t make sense. They write about “collecting more resources regarding this,” but if you’ve read the post you know you don’t need to collect resources to understand it.
Oh, I’m so sick of these spammers! Find another way to make money, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else having trouble with spammers clogging up your comments section?

I would say I’m a relatively calm driver. I rarely succumb to road rage, never been in an accident nor had a ticket. But today a driver pissed me off to the point that I wanted to jump out of my car and jack him up! I’m driving down the road, when I get to a school zone and slow down. School zones here are 25 mph and signaled by a yellow and white sign with yellow flashing lights. Now I see the sign, the drivers in the car beside and in front of me see the sign. But the idiot behind me is practically on my bumper waiting for a gap in the adjacent lane so he can cut in front of me.
So it happens, and he maneuvers in front and speeds off like a bat outta hell. I honked my horn–an attempt to jolt him out of his trance and make him aware of the school zone. Now even if he didn’t see the school zone signs and flashing lights, to the left of us was a big ass school! Did he not see that?!! When we get to a stop light he had the nerve to grill me from his rear view mirror. Ooooh, it took me channeling all my past spiritual teachings to not jump out of the car. I’m talking Conversations With God, Buddhist philosophy, Deepak Chopra, all of it! There are homes directly across the street from the school and kids cross at this time of day. What if…? I think my anger is justified. I’m just concerned about the children, ’cause Dara luh da kids!

My first foray into blogging began with Blogger. This was the free platform I used but soon felt too confined by it (before they added the tagging feature and a host of other goodies they now offer). So I graduated to another free blogging platform, Wordpress. My Wordpress.com blog was short-lived. I was soon venturing into the world of hosting with my own domain, and set up my current blog with Bluehost. I’m considering starting another blog–one that is anonymous and not hosted with Bluehost. So today I happened upon TypePad. I’ve visited many a TypePad blog, but never knew much about the platform. And I certainly didn’t know you had to pay to use their service! Ok, granted the basic level is only $4.95/month. However, I would like to know what they offer that Blogger and Wordpress don’t. A description of the basic level:
Choose your design from dozens of professional templates. TypePad makes it easy to include pictures and links, manage comments, and categorize your posts. Includes 100MB of storage and 2GB of bandwidth per month.
And, at this level you’re only allowed one author! The storage and bandwidth features are pretty good. I don’t know the type of monthly storage and bandwidth Blogger or Wordpress offer (I searched but couldn’t find this info). So maybe this feature is why TypePad charges. *shrug* I don’t know, I guess I’m just used to the many free services I use on the internet. What I do know is TypePad’s been crossed off my list of potential blogging platforms for my future blog…unless they began offering a free service. And, for any TypePad bloggers who read this, if you have also used either Blogger or Wordpress I would very much like to know how TypePad compares to those platforms.
